Pre Bankruptcy Certificate information The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, signed into law April 20, 2005, has brought some changes to filing bankruptcy. The law requires, among other things, consumers to receive credit counseling and financial education prior to filing for bankruptcy. Once you have successfully completed these requirements you will be given a certificate to recognize your completion of them. ABCS* will provide you with the counseling and education required to earn your Pre-Bankruptcy Certificate.

Fee Schedule
In Person/Telephone Counseling:
Individual Session	$50.00
Joint Session	$50.00 (if completed by co-debtors at the same time)


Internet Counseling: (North Carolina and Alabama Districts Only)

Internet initial signup, budget development module, educational module, counseling assistance via telephone
$40.00 per consumer

Referral direct from attorney - with Internet budget development module and educational modules.
$40.00 per consumer

Joint filers in same internet session.
$40.00

Telephone initial contact, contact for budget development, or contact prior to analysis session.
$50.00 per consumer
