What do I need to begin?
- You will want to gather a list of your monthly income and expenses.
In addition, you will need to total your unsecured
debt (credit cards, medical bills, unsecured loans)
as well as the total required monthly minimum payments
on your unsecured debt - do not include your mortgage
or vehicle(s) (secured) in the unsecured debt fields.
- Once you input your basic information, and budget information,
you will be prompted to enter your payment information.
- After submitting payment information, you will be prompted to
call our toll free number to complete your counseling
and receive your certificate. Counseling MUST be
completed by way of telephone to receive your certificate.
Please have your debt information available.
Note: If you are filing in Middle or Eastern NC or in Alabama, you may complete the entire process online. All other districts, including Western NC, may initiate the
couseling online but will be required to complete couseling by telephone
appointment.
